MarketYourIndie is operated by Juan Pablo Russo, an individual based in Argentina, who is the data controller for the information described here ("MarketYourIndie", "we", "us"). MarketYourIndie helps indie game developers plan and run the marketing, finance and legal side of a game launch. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to marketyourindie.com and the dashboard behind it.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address and an encrypted password when you create an account, plus any profile or studio details you choose to add.
- Data you enter. The information you load into the platform: game details, Steam page links, wishlist and review numbers, budgets, marketing plans, content calendars and notes. This is yours, and we treat it as confidential.
- Public Steam data. When you connect a Steam page or look up competitors, we fetch publicly available store data (prices, review counts, tags) from Steam to build your analysis. We do not access private Steamworks credentials unless you explicitly provide them.
- Usage data. Basic technical information such as your browser type, device and pages visited, used to keep the service running and to fix problems.
How we use your information
- To provide the platform: saving your work, generating estimates, and showing your dashboards.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To send you essential account and service messages, and (only if you opt in) product updates.
- To understand how the product is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use the game or business data you enter to train models or share it with advertisers.
Legal bases for processing
Where data-protection law applies, we process your data on these grounds: to perform our contract with you (running the Service and your account), our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Service, your consent where we ask for it (for example optional product emails), and to comply with legal obligations. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Service providers we use
We rely on a small set of trusted providers that process data on our behalf under agreements requiring them to protect it:
- Supabase for the database, authentication and storage of your account and content.
- Vercel for hosting and delivering the application.
- Steam (Valve) as a source of public store data we fetch for your analysis. We send no personal data to Steam.
- An email provider for account and service messages, and a payment processor for paid plans (only if you subscribe).
International data transfers
Our providers may store and process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as our providers' standard contractual clauses and their own compliance programs) to protect it. By using the Service you understand your data may be processed in these locations.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and the content tied to it within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep limited records to comply with the law.
Your rights
You can access, correct or export the data in your account at any time from the dashboard. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and we will honor those requests.
Security
Passwords are stored encrypted, data is transmitted over HTTPS, and access to production systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and to notify you if a breach affects you.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to operate the service. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Children
The platform is intended for developers and is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email or inside the dashboard.
